In 1942, Victory Gardens became popular and patriotic as the U.S. entered World War II. Americans were called to action and the response was monumental. In this presentation we’ll take a closer look at World War II Victory Gardens. We will also learn about other domestic activities to win the war such as collecting scrap metal, rubber, rags, tin cans and newspapers, gathering milkweed floss, establishing school-community canneries, ration books, using womens hosiery for military purposes and recycling old phonograph records.
